My stay at Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius was one that I had eagerly awaited since it’s confirmation. I love the Constance brand, having previously stayed in their Seychelles and Maldives properties, and therefore expectations were high. And I must say, I adored this property!
The location of this property is really special. Situated on the east coast of the island, upon Belle Mare beach, one of the most desired spots on the island, Constance Belle Mare Plage has a beautiful outlook of crystal clear waters and white sand. While the hotel is quite large, it’s spread horizontally along the coast, creating a huge beach area to relax on, which I loved. While it’s within close proximity to other hotels, you honestly wouldn’t know it. The one thing I would say, is that you’re not close to any coastal towns as such, so heading out to explore on foot or by bike, is a little trickier. This is definitely a chill out beach hotel!
The design of this hotel was a real mix. The lobby area felt quite beachy, with exposed wooden beams and marble floors, while the bar areas have a much more modern theme – every area of the hotel has been well thought-out , and it’s a really beautiful set up. There is one area near the front of the Junior Suites, that has a sculpture/water feature, which didn’t really have a sense of place, but apart from that, I was super impressed.
Food & Beverage
The food here was honestly to die for. Constance had arranged for us to eat at two of their A La Carte restaurants during our stay and both were incredible. My stand out has to be Deer Hunter. Located on the other side of the road, on their golf course, this restaurant is beautiful in the evening, with views over the green. The name of the restaurant comes from the amount of deer in the park, and if you look closely you can often see pairs of eyes shining at you in the distance! We started off with a pre-dinner drink on their veranda, before having a beautiful meal – fresh fish, steak – you name it. They evening finished it off with a little birthday cake for my mum, which was a lovely touch.
The facilities here are so great if you’re an active couple or a family. While we were on the beach, there were people learning how to water-ski, kids heading out on banana boats, pedalos and paddle boards. It was such an active beach scene, which is great if you want to get stuck in, and also gives you something to watch if not! There’s a great kids club for the little ones as well.
For me the service here was fantastic, especially for quite a large hotel. At the beach, it’s very easy to get someone’s attention, and the restaurant staff were always so helpful and on it. We were truly spoilt here, which is what Constance are great at, and we left feeling truly valued as guests.
Favourite Room Type
I’m actually loving the lead in room categories – the Prestige Suites have been recently renovated, and are looking modern, fresh and spacious. They’re also right by one of the best areas of beach!
For me, Constance Belle Mare Plage encompasses the perfect 5* beach getaway, for those looking for fun, relaxation and a chilled atmosphere. Mostly for families, but also easily fitted to couples looking for a bit of atmosphere.
